Fides supports the Ecuadorian organization known as Fudeconec (Fundación para el Desarollo de las Comunidades en el Ecuador, in English, The Organisation für Community Support and Development Work in Ecuador) with donations and through the placement of interns.

Fudeconec has set out on a goal to fight the causes of poverty and underdevelopment in cities and rural areas. Educational programs play a vital role. As a grassroots organization, Fudeconec works directly with the communities and citizens. The gap between the rich and poor in Ecuador is enormous. Fudeconec concentrates its work in the slums of Guayaquil, a city with a population of over one million. The city lacks running water and a sewage system, as well as public transportation and garbage collection. The orgnization was founded in 1995 by Lerry Abik Medina Obando. Medina himself comes from very modest upbringings and was able to obtain a diploma and degree through adult educational programs.
