CLEAN DRINKING WATER
Clean drinking water that is available in the immediate vicinity - that's a difficult find during the dry season in the community of Tapeam in Cambodia! Therefore, since 2013 Fides has supported the community members in this rural town by building a well. Since then, this well has cared for more than 100 families.
SCHOOL IN GUAYAQUIL
In a slum in Guayaquil, the biggest city in Ecuador, Fides has supported a school with 200 students for over 15 years. We continue to improve the school's failing infrastructure. Through our help we have installed a proper roof, built functioning toilets, contstucted classrooms and donated desks and books.
ELDERLY IN ECUADOR
For over two years Fides has supported a project named "Luz y Vida" in Ecuador. During this time, our donations have helped elderly citizens who lack shelter and food. Since 2012 the organization has been financially supported directly from the state of Ecuador and is no longer dependent on our help alone.
Projects by Fides
Fides supports the Ecuadorian organization known as Fudeconec (Fundación para el Desarollo de las Comunidades en el Ecuador, in English, The Organisation für Community Support and Development Work in Ecuador) with donations and through the placement of interns.
Fudeconec has set out on a goal to fight the causes of poverty and underdevelopment in cities and rural areas. Educational programs play a vital role. As a grassroots organization, Fudeconec works directly with the communities and citizens. The gap between the rich and poor in Ecuador is enormous. Fudeconec concentrates its work in the slums of Guayaquil, a city with a population of over one million. The city lacks running water and a sewage system, as well as public transportation and garbage collection. The orgnization was founded in 1995 by Lerry Abik Medina Obando. Medina himself comes from very modest upbringings and was able to obtain a diploma and degree through adult educational programs. To check out current projects by Fudeconec please click here.
